Shelia and I left Austin, but first we wanted to check out the Driskill Hotel at the suggestion of our new found friend from Applebee's (let's give him a name...Newfo). The luxury hotel was built in 1886. The Driskill Grill is voted a top rated restaurant year after year.  In 1934, LBJ had his first date there with the future Lady Bird. 

 

It must have been awesome in its day...and it still is.  You know it from the minute you walk through the door...the lobby, the ceiling lights...

Lunch cheese soup and fried corn pudding and scones. OMG.

Now, Fredericksburg here we come.
