An Afternoon With Aunt Elsie

We love our Aunt Elsie.  We being me and my two sisters, Marsha and Cynthia. We gladly made the long drive for a long overdue visit. Elsie is an amazing example of what 88 can be.  Elsie is one of 2 matriarchs left in the Clan of Aunties for our family.  Her beautiful daughter, Julia Ann, claimed a picnic table by the Jackson River in Richmond for a picnic lunch so our pleasure was doubled with this mother/daughter duo.

These visits are always filled with laughs as we get caught up on the recent past and reminisce about the days longer behind us. Cynthia tried to get Elsie to tell us what was in the brown paper bag she carried to the car.  The contents were finally revealed. We were hysterical over Julia Ann's demand that Elsie not put down the place mats she brought along with matching napkins. Elsie is very Richmond southern. Julia Ann won out, but we did use the placemat that Elsie hand painted and of course we used the lovely napkins.

Julia Ann's birthday was the day before so we surprised her with red velvet cupcakes before the group photos.

As if the day were not perfect enough, we met up with this handsome fella whose name is Boone.  Seriously!
No resisting a few photos by this tree stump with carvings.

Elsie is a cut up.  Don't let these photos fool you.  Julia Ann, your mother never wanted to smoke and she never wanted to drink....and she never did!

Till next time.
