My Birth Month 2018

May 26 - Art In The Park - Staunton VA.  Local music, art, food... This is actually a bucket list item for me.  2018 is the 52nd year this event has been held.  I have no idea why I have never made this event.  Even stranger given that I have owned 2 art galleries.

Boone bought me a giclée painting of downtown Staunton by local artist Mary Ann Vessey.

May 20 - This is my birthday.  Boone made breakfast using fresh eggs given to us by one of our friends. Yum!

You know by now (if you have ever seen my blogs) what kind of road Boone and I like.  We found one right away.

This kind of road has all the things we enjoy.

And of course cows.

The Maury River flows through Goshen Pass.  The river was demonstrating its power after all the rainfall.

We spotted a couple of daring kayakers testing their skill on the raging river.

We stopped in Lexington for lunch at The Palms.

Great day for my 67th year.

May 11 - Dinner at Café Michel. Wonderful.

May 10 - time with Dolly.

And earlier in the day....this in my neighborhood.

May 4 in my front yard.

May 1 - I finally see the bird that woke me up last year every morning.  He is back!

April 27 - Boone surprised me with an early birth month dinner at an old favorite of mine in Harrisonburg. Wow.  What a wonderful birth month + I had.  Thanks Boone.

Celebration Of Life

June 10, 2018 family and friends met at the Covington Baptist Church to celebrate the life of Alice "Teenie" Taylor Vernon. Her daughter, Kathy, organized the celebration.  The minister, the music and eulogy were perfect. Ladies from the church, in which we all grew up, provided us with a dinner as only church ladies can.  Thank you. Kathy also had a couple of photo albums she prepared which prompted us to share so many memories. Aunt Teenie was an important part of our lives.  Thank you sweet Kathy for bringing us together for a couple of hours to celebrate her life, and our own because of how she affected us...always.

A Little Bit Of Heaven

It seems like it will never stop raining, but it is nice to have Mother Nature water my new plants.  The rain has gifted me mushrooms!

The rain stopped for a while one day so Dolly took some extra time in the front yard.  She tried to make friends with this baby.

She stayed out here all day, only moving when the sun took away the shade.  I took breaks from work during the day to sit by her.  Each time, a bit nervous, she stood up.  I did not get a photo as I did not want to spook her any further.  The photo below is not edited.  I sat this close to her. Ahhh, a little bit of Heaven.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

So, I wake up to this today.  Really?  And 2 hours later, it is still coming down.

A WINTER THAT WON'T LET GO

A week ago we were riding around in a county or two enjoying the promise of Spring.  We were not the only ones taking in the warmth of the sun.

This year we seem to have one or two days that feel like Spring followed by several days of winter.  And so it was again this weekend.  Saturday afternoon delivered a wintery mix as promised.  While I am getting tired of winter, I cannot resist the beauty of a snowfall.  This was a very light snow, all puffy like.  Watching the fall is so relaxing and the show outside the large picture window in my living room provides plenty of entertainment.  The result is a day at slow speed with permission to relax.  A day to do next to nothing. Watch nature. Watch Netflix. Watch more nature. And love on Dolly.

I am anxious for Spring to arrive.  But I would never complain about a day like today.  Right Miss Dolly?
